Hooyaya US$45/year This is our recommended data site for the United States. Data since January 1998. Ability to download one month of data in a single file.
Yahoo Finance Free One symbol per request. 10+ years of data.
MSN Money Central Free One symbol per request. Mainly US and Canadian data. Stocks, Funds, Options and Indices. Up to 5 years of data.

United Kingdom

ADVFN £5.88 (Premium Bronze Account) Daily and historical data since 1997. Stocks, bonds, gilts and indices.

Australia
 
Hooyaya US$45/year This is our recommended data site for Australia. Data since January 1997. Ability to download one month of data in a single file.
Cooltrader.net A$95/year Daily data for all ASX stocks. Historical data available. Stocks, warrents and indices. Data available at 7:30pm
Vestdata A$130/year Daily data for all ASX stocks. Historical data available. Stocks and indices. Data available at midnight.
Commonwealth Securities Broker membership required One symbol per request. Stocks only. Up to 10 years of data.

Hooyaya

To download data from Hooyaya, please do the following:

  1. Using a web browser, go to the address: http://www.hooyaya.com/
  2. In the menu on the left hand side of the screen, click on the link to the "Stock Data Centre".
  3. Select "Current Month Data" or "Previous Months Data" for the region you are interested in.
  4. Click on the data file you wish to download. Save the file to a location on your hard drive.
  5. To download more data, repeat step 4 (or 3 and 4).
  6. Import the data into Bull's-Eye Broker using the "Hooyaya Data" file format. For more information on importing see Importing Data into Bull's-Eye Broker.

 


Yahoo Finance

To download data from Yahoo Finance, please do the following:

  1. Using a web browser, go to the address: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=%5EDJI
  2. Enter your symbol in the Get Historical Prices for field and click Go.
  3. Enter your date range and click the "Get Prices" button.
  4. After the page has loaded, right mouse click the “Download to Spreadsheet” link (at the bottom of the page).
  5. Click on the "Save target as..." menu item.
  6. Save the file to a location on your hard drive. Please ensure that you rename the file to symbol.csv, where symbol stands for the symbol of the stock you are currently downloading. For example, IBM.csv
  7. To download more data, repeat steps 2 to 4.
  8. Import the data into Bull's-Eye Broker using the "Yahoo Historical Data" file format. For more information on importing see Importing Data into Bull's-Eye Broker.

 



MSN Money Central

To download data from MSN Money Central, please do the following:

  1. Using a web browser, go to the address: http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/charts/charting.asp?Symbol=. Please note that if you are viewing this web page for the first time, it make take a few minutes to load.
  2. Enter a stock, fund, option or index symbol and press Enter.
  3. After the chart has loaded, click on the Period menu (just above the white area of the chart) and select Custom...
  4. Enter the date range and select the "Daily" detail option. If the "Daily" option is disabled you may need to reduce your date range. Click the OK button.
  5. After the chart as re-loaded (if required), click on the File menu (just above the white area of the chart) and select Export Data.
  6. The data should load into Microsoft Excel. From the File menu in Excel, select Save As.
  7. Save the file to a location on your hard drive. When doing this please leave the default filename (supplied by Excel) unchanged. Occasionally we have noticed that Excel places a 0, 1 or 2 character on the end of the filename. If this is the case you will need to rename this file (by removing the 0, 1 or 2 character) in My Computer or Windows Explorer.
  8. To download more data, return to your web browser and continue with steps 2, 5, 6 and 7.
  9. Import the data into Bull's-Eye Broker using the "MSN Money Central Data" file format. For more information on importing see Importing Data into Bull's-Eye Broker.

 



ADVFN

To download data from ADVFN you will need to open a Premium Bronze  Account. If you have not already done this please do so now: www.advfn.com

  1. Using a web browser, go to the address: http://www.advfn.com
  2. Click on the Data link (on menu at the top of the page).
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. You can then download historical data for up to 5 symbols or perform a "Quick" download of today's data:

To download historical data:

  1. Select "All prices (Metastock)" in the first drop down list box.
  2. Make sure the Zip data tick box is ticked.
  3. Select the date period for the operation. If you want to download multiple days of data you must specify at least one EPIC using the "Options >>>" button.
  4. Click on the Query Data button.
  5. Click on the Download Now button.
  6. Save the file to a location on your hard drive.
  7. Repeat steps (a) to (g) until you have downloaded all the data you require.
  8. Import the data into Bull's-Eye Broker using the "ADVFN Metastock Data" file format. For more information on importing see Importing Data into Bull's-Eye Broker.

To download today's data

  1. Locate the "All Prices (Metastock)" option under the list of quick download data items. Click on the "Zipped version" link.
  2. Save the file to a location on your hard drive.
  3. Import the data into Bull's-Eye Broker using the "ADVFN Metastock Data" file format. For more information on importing see Importing Data into Bull's-Eye Broker.

 


Commonwealth Securities

To download data from Commonwealth Securities you will need to open an account with them (visit their web site for more information - ComSec). Once you have an account number and login, do the following:

  1. Using a web browser, go to the address: http://www.comsec.com.au/. Login to the web site using your account number and password.
  2. Enter the ASX Name or Security Code and press Enter.
  3. Click on the View Chart link at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
  4. Click on the "Download" link at the top right hand corner of the screen.
  5. Select the Time Period and then click the Download Price History button.
  6. A dialog box should display. Make sure the option "Save this file to disk" is selected and click OK.
  7. Specify a folder location and name for this file. It may be useful to rename the file to symbol.csv (eg. BHP.csv)
  8. To download more data, click the OK button and repeat steps 2 to 7.
  9. Import the data into Bull's-Eye Broker using the "ComSec Data" file format. For more information on importing see Importing Data into Bull's-Eye Broker.

 



Vestdata

To use the data supplied by Vestdata you will need to open an account with them. Please visit their web site to determine which data package suites you: http://www.vestdata.com.au/

Vestdata provide Australian Stock Exchange data in a number of formats. We recommend that you select the "Bull's-Eye Broker Data" format. Once you have an account with Vestdata, your data will arrive via email or through a special downloader program. Once the data is on your computer, simply double click the data file (*.bbd) and Bull's-Eye Broker will open and begin the import operation.


Cooltrader.net

To use the data supplied by Cooltrader.net you will need to open an account with them. Please visit their web site to determine which data package suites you: http://www.cooltrader.net/

When downloading data from Cooltrader.net you should use the Metastock data format. Then when importing into Bull's-Eye Broker use the "Cooltrader Metastock Data" file format. For more information on importing see Importing Data into Bull's-Eye Broker.
